¿Matar al amor?

To Kill Love?

There was a time in the history of the world, a terrible day in which Hatred, who was the king of bad feelings, defects and bad virtues, summoned an urgent meeting with everyone.

All the dark feelings of the world and the more perverse desires of the human heart turned up to the meeting with the curiosity to know what was the purpose.

When everyone was reunited, Hatred spoke and said,

"I gathered you all here because I want to kill somebody with all our forces combined."

The assistants did not find it too strange, it was Hatred who was talking, and he always wants to kill someone. However, everybody was wondering who would be so difficult to kill that hatred needed everybody.
-- Quiero que maten al amor - dijo.
"I want to kill Love", he said.

Many smiled malevolently, since more than one was willing to.

The first volunteer was Bad Character, who said,

I will go, and assure you that in one year, Love will be dead; I will provoke such discord and rage that he cannot endure it.

After one year, they reunited again to listen to information from Bad Character; they were very disappointed.

"I'm sorry. I tried everything; but every time I sowed a seed of discord, Love surpassed it and went ahead."

It was then when, very earnest, Ambition offered and boasting of his power, he said,

In view of how Bad Character failed, I will go. I will distract the attention of Love with the desires of wealth and power. He could never ignore that.

And Ambition started to attack his victim, who effectively, fell wounded; but after the fight Love went ahead, renounced all desires flooded of power and prevailed again.

Furious of the failure of Ambition, Hatred sent Jealousy, who, mocking and perverse, invented all classes of tricks and situations to confuse Love and hurt him with doubt and suspicions.

But Love, confused, cried and thought that he did not want to die; and collecting his courage and force, prevailed over them and overcame them.

Year after year, Hatred continued to fight him, sending more of his hurtful partners- Coldness, Egoism, Indifference, Poverty, Sickness and many others - who failed always, because when Love felt weak, he recovered with force and overcame everything.

Convinced that Love was invincible, Hatred said to the rest of them,

"There is nothing to do. Love surpassed it all. We spent many years insistently and we did not achieve it.

Suddenly, from the corner of the hall rose a feeling few knew, dressed totally in black with a big hat that prevented a view of his face. He had the funeral aspect of death and said with certainty,

- Yo mataré al amor; yo mataré al amor.
"I will kill  Love. I will kill Love."
Everyone asked who was it that would pretend he can do what no one could do.

El odio dijo:
Hatred said,

- Ve y hazlo.
"Go and do it."

Only some time passed when Hatred returned to call all the bad feelings to communicate to them that, after much waiting, Love finally died.

Todos estaban felices, pero sorprendidos.
Everybody was happy, but surprised.

Entonces el sentimiento del sombrero negro habló:
Then the feeling with the black hat said,

Here, I give to you the totally dead and destroyed Love.

Y, sin decir más, se marchó.
And, not saying more, he made to go.

"Wait," said Hatred, "You completely eliminated him in such a short time, you made him hopeless and he did not make the smallest effort to live… Who are you?"

The feeling raised his horrible face for the first time and said,

- Soy… la rutina.
"I am… Routine."

5. Mirese las manos. Relajese poco a poco.
6. Haga ejercicios de respiración profunda y lentamente.
7. Hable más despacio, o tome un descanso.
8. Sientese, descanse y tranquilicese.

Owl City - 1, 2, 3, 4

uno-dos, uno-dos-tres-cuatro

Me has dado mas amor que nunca
Me has hecho sentir mejor completamente cuando estoy triste
Me has dicho que soy especial incluso cuando no soy yo

Me has hecho sentir bien cuando me duele mucho
Casi nunca has estado enojado conmigo
Estoy tan alegre de encontrarte
Me encanta estar contigo
Lo haces fácil

Es fácil como uno-dos, uno-dos-tres-cuatro
Hay solamente
Una frase para decirte
Tres palabras para ti
Yo te quiero

Hay solamente
Una frase para decirte
Esas tres palabras

Has reunido mis pedazos cuando me he quebrado
Me has dicho secretos que aún ni tus amigos saben

Me has hecho sentir bien cuando me duele mucho
Lo mejor que yo tuve
Y estoy tan alegre de haberte encontrado
Me encanta estar contigo
Lo haces fácil

Es fácil como uno-dos, uno-dos-tres-cuatro
Hay solamente
Una frase para decirte
Tres palabras para ti
Yo te quiero

Hay solamente
Una frase para decirte
Esas tres palabras

The Paradigm of Wealth

A very rich man took his son through a path on his land with the objective that his son will see the poor that lived in the countryside and understand the value of material things and how fortunate they were.

They stayed for a day and a night in a farm with a very humble country family.

At the finish of the trip, and went back home, the father asked his son:

- ¿Qué te pareció el viaje?
"What did you think of the trip?"

- Muy bonito, papá.
"It was very nice, papa."

"Did you see how people can be poor and under privileged?"

 - Sí.
"Yes."

 - ¿Y qué aprendiste?
"And what did you learn?"

"I saw that we have one dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool of twenty five metres and they have a river with no end. We have imported lamps on the patio, they have the stars. Our patio reaches the edge of the house, theirs gets lost in the horizon. Especially, papa, I saw that they had time for talking and living together as a family. You and mama have work all the time and I almost never see you."

A the finish of the story, the father remained silent, and his son added:

"Thank you, papa, for teaching me the wealth that we can get to become!"

La Escalera

The Ladder

A carpenter was constructing a ladder one day. A neighbour passed by, saw what he was doing and said,

"If you give me a small piece, it would help me very much and it won't cause any damage to your work. Could you give me a step in your ladder?"

The carpenter scratched his head and gave it to him. The neighbour was grateful and left content. After another person came and explained that permitting him to use some stairs, he would work and feed his children. The carpenter agreed and gifted him with some stairs. The man left content and grateful. The carpenter continued working on his work.

A poor women passed through there and asked him to give her a piece of wood, as there was a wall   in her house that fell from the wind, to urgently fix. The carpenter agreed. The woman walked away happy and thankful. Many more came, and the carpenter continued agreeing. The winder was hard, the misery very large, and the carpenter gave pieces of his ladder to everyone, even to burn as firewood.

Y decía:
And said,

- No comprendo, mujer.
" I don't understand, wife. My ladder is shorter every time. Nevertheless, I climb for the sky and every time, I am closer!

Las Tres Rejas

The Three Bars

A young disciple of a wise philosopher arrives at the house and says this,

"Teacher, a friend was talking badly about you…"
- ¡Espera!
"Wait!" interrupted the philosopher. "Did whatever you wanted to tell me pass the three bars?"

- ¿Las tres rejas? - preguntó el discípulo.
"The three bars?" asked the disciple.

"Yes. The first is truth. Are you sure what you want to tell me is the absolute truth?"

- No. Lo oí comentar a unos vecinos.
"No. I heard the comment from some neighbours."

"At least it might have passed the second bar, which is kindness. What you want to tell me, is it good for anyone?"

- No, en realidad no. Al contrario.
"No, in reality no. The contrary."

- ¡Ah, vaya!
"Ah, it's okay! The last bar is necessity. Is it necessary for me to know that which bothers you so much?"

- A decir verdad, no.
"In fact, no."

"Then," said the wise smiling, "If it is not the truth, not good and not necessary, bury it in oblivion."

A beautiful Arabic legend tells of two friends that travelled through the desert, arrived at a determined spot in their trip, and argued.

The offended, saying nothing, wrote in the sand:

[Today, my best friend slapped my face.]

They continued forward and arrived at an oasis where they decided to take a bath. The one that was slapped was on the verge of drowning but was saved by his friend. When he recovered, he took a dagger and wrote into a rock:

[Hoy, mi mejor amigo me salvó la vida.]
[Today, my best friend saved my life.]

Intrigado, el amigo preguntó:
Intrigued, the friend asked,

"Why, after the last time you were hurt, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a rock?"

Sonriendo, el otro amigo respondió:
Smiling, the other friend responded,

"When a great friend offends us, we should write it in the sand where the wind can bury it and our forgiveness can be in charge of erase and extinguish it. But when something great happens to us, we should engrave into the rock of the memories of our heart, where no wind of the world can erase.

The African Caribbean Rhythms

In the School of Bomba and Plena Rafael Cepeda, the students learn the traditional African Caribbean rhythms.

This African Caribbean rhythm, the bomba, represents the African heritage of Puerto Rico. But today, the plena, another style of African Caribbean music, is more popular. Why? According to Modesto Cepeda, the founder and director of the School of Bomba and Plena Rafael Cepeda, it is an issue of racism.

Cepeda thinks that the plena is more popular today because it is not a "black" dance like the bomba. The plena originates from the urban area of the poor population and mulatto of Ponce.  On the contrary, the bomba originates from the population of black slaves from the rural agricultural sectors. It has a purely African origin.

In 1978, Modesto instituted the school with the intention to renew the interest in bomba and also plena. The idea for the school is to keep the tradition of the two dances alive and give bomba the attention that it deserves. Every Saturday at 10 in the morning, the classes of "the unique school of bomba and plena of the world" starts, Modesto assures.

Modesto, with his sons, directs lessons that include the practice of dance and percussion, along with the history of both. The lessons are divided into groups: First, the beginners, aged 5 to 12. The second session are with children with more talent, who participate in special choreographies. Later is the turn of the young and adults. The day finishes with a percussion class.

Se Venden Cachorros

Selling Puppies

The owner of a shop was hanging a sign above the door that said, "Selling Puppies". Signs like this attract children; so much that a boy appeared beneath the sign.

- ¿Cuánto cuestan los cachorros?
"How much are the puppies?"

- Entre 30 y 50 euros - replicó el dueño
"Between 30 and 50 Euros", replied the owner.

The boy looked for money in his bag and took out some coins.

- Tengo 2,37 - dijo - ¿Puedo verlos, por favor?
"I have 2,37" he said "Can I see them, please?"

The owner smiled and gave a whistle, and Lady came out from the kennel. She ran down the corridor of the shop followed by five small balls of silver fur. One of the puppies was considerably held up behind the rest.

" What's wrong with that puppy?" asked the boy, indicating the puppy that had a sluggish limp.

Siempre seria cojo. El niño se emocionó.
The owner of the shop explained to him that the veterinarian examined the puppy and discovered that it didn't have the bone cavity in his hip. He will always be lame. The boy was moved deeply.

- Ése es el cachorro que quiero comprar
"That is the puppy that I want to buy."

"No need to buy that puppy," said the owner of the shop. "If you really want him, I will give him to you".

The child was bothered a little bit. He looked directly at the eyes of the owner of the shop and, indicated with his finger, said,

"I don't want you to gift him to me. That puppy is worth more than the rest, and I will pay his value in full. So, I will pay 2,37 euros now, and 50 cents monthly until I have paid it completely."

"I don't think you want to buy that puppy," replied the owner. "It will never be able to run, play, or jump with you like the rest of the puppies."

Then, the boy crouched and rolled up his pants to show a seriously crippled leg, twisted and secure in a big metal bracket.

"Good," replied the boy smoothly, looking at the man, "I am not good like that either, and the puppy needs someone that can understand him."

“Being together isn’t about a honeymoon. It’s about the real you and me. I want to wake up with you beside me in the mornings, I want to spend my evenings looking at you across the dinner table. I want to share every mundane detail of my day with you and hear every detail of yours. I want to laugh with you and fall asleep with you in my arms. Because you aren’t just someone I loved back then. You were my best friend, my best self, and I can’t imagine giving that up again.”

El Vuelo Del Halcón

The flight of the Hawk

A king received two small hawks as gifts and delivered them to the master of falconry to be trained.

Some months passed, the master informed the king that one of the hawks was perfect, but that he didn't know what happened to the other one: it didn't move from the branch it was put on since the day it arrived. The king summoned for a quack doctor and a healer to look at the hawk, but no one could make the bird fly. He then entrusted the mission to the members of the court, but without result. The following day, the monarch could see from his window that the bird was still immobile.

So then he decided to tell his village that he will offer compensation to the person that can make the hawk fly. The following morning, he saw the hawk flying nimbly through his gardens. The king ordered,

- Traedme al autor de este milagro.
"Find the creator of this miracle for me."

His court quickly present him with a peasant. The king asked him,

- ¿Tú hiciste volar al halcón? ¿Cómo le hiciste? ¿Eres mago?
" You made the hawk fly? How did you do it? Are you a magician?"

Intimidado el campesino le dijo al rey:
Intimidated, the peasant told the king,

"It was easy, my king. I only cut the branch and the hawk flew. It realized that it had wings and started to fly.

Cicatrices de Amor

Scars of Love

During a hot day in summer, a boy decided to go swimming in the pond behind his house. Running out through the back door, he plunged into the water and swam happily. He didn't pay attention to a crocodile coming closer to him.

From the house, his mother saw through the window and watched with horror what happened. Immediately, she ran to her child, screaming as loud as possible. Hearing her, the boy was alarmed and turned to swim towards his mother, but it was too late.

From the dock, the mother took hold of the boy by his arms just when the crocodile grabbed the boys legs. The mother pulled the arms of the boy with all her strength. The crocodile was stronger but the mother had more passion and her love would not abandon her child.

A man that heard them yell came quickly to the place with a pistol and killed the crocodile.

The boy survived and, even though his legs were badly hurt, he was able to walk again.

When the trauma was over, a reporter asked the boy if he wanted to show his scars on his legs. The boy lifted up the bed sheet and showed them. But then, with pride, he rolled up his sleeves and pointed out the scars on his arms. He said,

"But what you should see are these."

It was the marks of his mother's nails that pressed with force into his arms.

"I have these because my mother didn't let go and saved my life."

Estrella Vespertina

Evening Star

A star appears in the skies. Who drew it? The star illuminates everything and tells me that the day is over.

The sun keeps its rays so that the night can paint the sky.

I greet the star, smile and prepare myself for sleep.

vanilla twilight

The stars lean down to kiss you
I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly
but I'll miss your arms around me
